Credit

For the business persons who do not have access to the commercial banks and have been in business for at least 6 months, IPED provides timely access to capital for appropriate periods, at reasonable interest rates and which provides the clients with good rates of Return on Investment.
Distribution Strategy

We have a Head Office in Georgetown and five branch offices in Port Mourant Corentyne, Cotton Field Essequibo Coast, Parika East Bank Essequibo, D'Edward West Bank Berbice and Lethem in Region 9 respectively and five sub-offices that are open at least once per week. These are Linden, Corriverton, New Amsterdam, Charitty and Wakenaam. An estimated 80 per cent of loans are initiated at these offices.
We have 22 Credit Officers who go into the field two times per week. In addition to their main duty of business counseling, these counselors make initial interviews with potential borrowers. They also make field collections to facilitate Clients.

We cover every Administrative Region in Guyana. During 2003 we initiated a hinterland development outreach. We now have a full time presence in Lethem, visit Kwakwani and Ituni fortnightly and on a monthly basis Mabaruma, Port Kaituma and Moruca in Region 1, and Mahdia in Region 8.
