Entrepreneurial Development Centre
About the Entrepreneurial Development Center
The Institute of Private Enterprise Development is a National
Development Institution whose core product is providing loans for Business
Development in Guyana. The Entrepreneurial Development Center is a complementary
service whose purpose is to improve the chances of the Entrepreneurs succeeding
through the provision of Business Development Services. The Center targets
both micro and s all entrepreneurs and facilitates training using the
participatory methodology.
Impact
Through our intervention we anticipate:
Successful Business Clients: The success of a client
will be measured using the following:
- Significant Poverty Reduction
- Successful micro and small entrepreneurs with increase
profits and number of employees.
- Significant contribution to the economy as measured
by the increase in the Gross Domestic Product.
- Increased exports of non-traditional products.
- Gender Equity: An increased number of women accessing
loans and being successful in business.
- Amerindians accessing loans
- Youth: A significant increase in the number of youths
being involved in business

Outcomes to be achieved by 2006:
- 4500 Entrepreneurs successfully applying Business
Skills Training in Marketing, Bookkeeping, Costing and Administration.
- 600 clients have improved Market Access or Access
to New Markets.
- 100 clients have successful new businesses in non-traditional
products and services.
- 600 clients being able to use Technologies to improved
their products of services
Outputs
- Clients have better understanding of management
Skills i.e. marketing, bookkeeping, costing and administration.
- Clients accessing open channels to markets.
- Clients being able to identify Business Opportunities
- Clients being able to locate and use technologies
to improve their business.
